Five Element Acupuncture
Five element Acupuncture is an ancient form of acupuncture that helps a person move back into harmony with themselves, providing an effective means to address physical symptoms, emotional concerns such as anxiety or depression to broader spiritual concerns such as issues around life path, healing a history of trauma or processing grief.
Ancient Chinese Physicians viewed the body as an ecosystem, a reflection of the natural elements wood, fire, earth, metal and water. These elements reflect the interplay of Qi (energy) present in nature and in our bodies. When these elements are not in balance we experience symptoms either physical, mental, emotional or spiritual (usually a combination of these). When these five elements of Qi are functioning in harmony we experience optimal health, vitality and well-being.
Five Element Acupuncture treatments utilize thin, individual, sterile needles and often Moxabustion (Moxa), the burning of small cones of a medicinal Chinese herb called Artemisia Vulgaris (Mugwort) on specific acupuncture points, both work synergistically to facilitate the flow of Qi and balance the yin and yang energies within the body.
